Why are Catholic schools so cheap?

I've noticed that Catholic schools are dirt cheap compared to other private schools. Whereas many private schools cost 30k-40k, Catholic schools seem to often cost a fifth of that price. Why is that? Does the Catholic Church subsidize Catholic schools to make the schools more accessible to poorer students, or is it something else?
