Should I extract teeth for braces?

I got braces about a year and a half ago. My orthodontist recommended that I extract four teeth to get rid of my overbite which was 7mm. I decided to proceed with getting the braces without extractions, even though I knew the after effect wouldn't be as good. Now I am reconsidering getting the teeth pulled out, mainly because I want a better profile. Some people say they don't notice my bad profile, but some do. Should I get extractions?
